Welcome to the Beechwood Hotel, an exclusive country house hotel in the small market town of North Walsham close to the Norfolk coast.
As of June 2019 we have been awarded 4 Stars from the AA, reflecting our excellence in Hospitality, Service, Cleanliness and Food. We have been TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Winner in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 2023, 2024 and 2025.
A special welcome and a friendly and informal atmosphere, 20 comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms, creative Head Chefs Scott Elden sourcing produce from local farms and Cromer fishermen, a Heritage coastline, the Norfolk Broads and the cathedral city of Norwich all close by; are our recipe for a great Short Break!
Agatha Christie was a regular visitor to The Beechwood when it was a private house, from the 1930s until the 1960s.
Bedrooms come with giant beds, Vi-sprung mattresses, squashy pillows and fluffy bathrobes. Some have French windows opening onto the peaceful garden and outside seating areas. Others are four-posters with Victorian-style bathrooms featuring Mae West style slipper baths. Two new rooms in the garden feature hot tub and sauna on their private decks.
The restaurant is the hub of the hotel. Cuisine is modern British with a Mediterranean influence. Each evening our Chefs prepare a ten mile dinner, celebrating local ingredients, sourced, where possible, within about ten miles of the hotel. This may include Aylsham Lamb, Hevingham Beef, local game, Sheringham lobster and Cromer crab in season. Do leave room for dessert, the sticky toffee pudding is to die for!
