Walberswick

Walberswick is a delightful, picturesque seaside village in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths National Landscape in Suffolk, England, 33 miles north of Ipswich and 31 miles from Norwich.

Walberswick has a large village green with a few shops and pubs, a footbridge and rowing boat ferry across the River Blyth to Southwold’s Blackshore Harbour, and numerous trails through the heathland.

The walk to the pretty sandy and shingle beach is by bridge over the Dunwich River and across saltmarsh and dunes. The bridge is a popular spot for crabbing.

The village name is said to come from the Saxon Waldbert, probably meaning a landowner, and ‘wyc’, meaning a harbour.
