About Cycle Breaks
Cycle Breaks are specialists in self-guided cycling holidays and walking breaks in Suffolk and Norfolk, celebrating 35 years of personal service. They offer fully supported gentle cycling, e-bike and walking adventures for all abilities, designed for those looking to enjoy the freedom of exploring the East of England’s coast and countryside at their own pace. Most tour start points are accessible by rail and public transport, so can be car-free from the get-go.
The extensive Cycle Breaks portfolio of linear and circular, multi-destination and single centre bike tours also extends to mainland Europe. Suffolk bike hire only service also available.
Cycling Holidays
All Cycle Breaks bike tours explore well-planned routes along mainly quiet country lanes, scenic paths and established cycle networks, and include carefully selected accommodation, luggage transfers and quality bike hire (e-bike hire, or own bike, also an option). Detailed route notes and GPS navigation take care of the logistics, and mechanical assistance on call delivers real peace of mind.
Ranging from one to thirteen nights and covering gentle terrain, their cycling holiday packages in the East of England are ideal for short breaks, weekend getaways or longer gently active holidays.

Cycling holidays in Suffolk include the National Landscapes of the Suffolk Heritage Coast (Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Southwold) and Constable Country, as well as unspoilt villages of Mid-Suffolk and the wool towns around Lavenham and Bury St Edmunds.
Flexible package options are also available to cyclists and bike-packers looking to tour The Wolf Way and its related routes in and around Suffolk, or The Rebellion Way in Norfolk.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I change the dates after I have booked?
If you wish to alter your holiday arrangements we will do our best to accommodate you, subject to availability, upon payment of an administration charge of £50 per booking, provided such alterations are notified at least 28 days before the start of your holiday.
After this date, we reserve the right to treat the changes as rebooking and to apply cancellation charges.
- Can I get to my holiday by public transport?
We have a green conscience and advocate the use of public transport where it makes good sense.
It is our aim to feature tours and properties which can be accessed by public transport with additional taxi transfers if necessary.
It is easier to get to some holiday start points than others by rail or bus, but we are very much on the case and can share with you our understanding of the local public transport situation.
- Can vegetarians, vegans or special diets be catered for?
Accommodating special dietary requirements is rarely a problem, provided we know in advance. Please let us know and we will pass details on to the relevant accommodation providers.
Where evening meals are included in our prices, or where evening meals are available at the accommodation, vegetarian options are generally available as standard on the menu.
- Do you offer single centre holidays with just a bit of cycling?
We have single centre breaks available in England, France, Germany and Italy. These, especially the ones in England and France, are great for first timers or those who might just want to spend more time relaxing by the pool than in the saddle. We’ll book the accommodation, deliver the bikes to you at the hotel, give you a host of route options from which you can simply take your pick as the whim or the weather takes you. On these tours in particular, the rest really is up to you.
- What is not included in the price
Lunches and meals unless noted in the tour detail.
‘Extras’ at your accommodation unless noted in the tour detail (such as meals/drinks/telephone calls/newspapers, etc). These are payble direct with the establishment at the time of departure.
local tourist taxes levied on some Italian tours which must be paid in person at the hotel (typically €1 per person per hotel star per night).
Boat and train transfers unless noted in the tour detail.
Entry into attractions/places of interest unless noted in the tour detail.
The tour price does not include the costs of getting to and from the tour area.
- Do the cycling holidays and walking breaks have set start days?
You can start almost all our UK tours on any day of the week, with the exception of some linear walking tours .
- How easy-going are cycle holidays in Suffolk and Norfolk?
Often referred to as ‘England’s Cycling Country’, Suffolk and Norfolk terrain is mainly gently undulating or relatively flat. Our bike holidays are all graded based on the demands of the terrain and daily distances. They are aimed at cycling for enjoyment and discovery and we are here to help you choose the right bike tour for you.
- Are East of England cycling holidays suitable for autumn and spring breaks?
Yes, we offer both our cycling and walking holidays in Suffolk and Norfolk generally from January / February through to November.
- Are children’s bikes available on self-guided cycling holidays?
Yes, for family cycling holidays we have youth and child bikes available and also offer Tag-a-long cycle options, child seats and child trailers.
- Do you offer off-road cycle routes?
Some of our East of England cycling holidays may include sections of untarmacked tracks and paths.
If you are keen on off-road cycling, both the Wolf Way and Rebellion Way cycle routes provide some great opportunities which we are happy to discuss.
- Do I need special equipment for my cycling holiday?
No, we do advocate the wearing of a cycle helmet and we provide use of these free of charge for cycle breaks in England. Our bikes are equipped with panniers and a trip computer.
Suggested kit list: This might include comfortable footwear with rigid soles; waterproof jacket; water bottle; sunglasses (help protect against dust) and sun-creams; clothes for layering up.
