Forest + Brecks
Thetford
Thetford is an historic market town in the Brecks area of Norfolk, England, most famous for its nearby Thetford Forest, the largest low-lying forest in the country.
Thetford, which is on the branch line between Norwich and Cambridge, sits as a crossing on the River Little Ouse, 33 miles north-east of Cambridge. The town hosts the Ancient House Museum and three notable statues to pamphleteer Thomas Paine who famously helped save the American War of Independence, the last Sikh Emperor Maharaja Duleep Singh who lived at nearby Elveden and Captain Mainwaring from Dad’s Army – the series was filmed in and around the town.
