Swaffham
A historic market town in the Brecks in Norfolk, England, Swaffham is 28 miles west of Norwich and 12 miles east of King’s Lynn.
Swaffham has a large market place, many attractive Georgian buildings and an impressive Butter Cross, a legacy of the town’s wool prosperity during the 14th and15th centuries. Atop the dome is a statue of Roman goddess Ceres, the goddess of agriculture.
The town centre hosts the Saturday market with lots of local produce, and also Swaffham Museum – discover more about local boy Howard Carter, the archaeologist who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt.
