Little Walsingham
The village of Little Walsingham is in Norfolk, England, 25 miles from King’s Lynn, 28 miles from Norwich and just a few miles from the coast.
It has been a site of pilgrimage – ‘England’s Nazareth’ - for almost 1,000 years when noblewoman Richeldis de Faverches had a vision of Mary showing her the house in Nazareth where Gabriel announced the news of the birth of Jesus. Mary asked Richeldis to build a replica in Walsingham.
A priory followed, now renowned for its Spring snowdrops, and kings including Henry VIII visited.
Today there is an Anglican and also a Roman Catholic Shrine of our Lady.
