Gorleston-on-Sea
Gorleston-on-Sea, known as Gorleston, is a popular seaside town in Norfolk, England, across the River Yare from Great Yarmouth and 23 miles east of Norwich.
The name Gorleston is thought to mean ‘girls’ town’. Historically the town was in Suffolk until it was incorporated into Great Yarmouth in 1836.
Gorleston’s historic harbour retains its lighthouse, now inoperable, and the Pier Hotel starred in Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis’ 2019 film Yesterday with 5000 locals becoming extras.
The highlight of Gorleston is the huger sandy beach with high Promenade that includes many sports and activity facilities.
