Flatford
Flatford is a small community on the banks of the River Stour in Dedham Vale National Landscape in Suffolk, England.
The beautiful countryside, waterways, farmers, labourers and church spires were the inspiration for renowned English landscape painter John Constable, who was born at nearby East Bergholt.
Most famously, Flatford featured in the paintings ‘Willy Lott’s House’ and ‘The Hay Wain’, one of the most popular in English art history.
The National Trust run much of Flatford and have a year-round schedule of highlighting traditional farming methods, growing local produce and working with artists.
