The Coot Club Returns!Join us at the Museum of the Broads on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June, 10am–4pm for a nostalgic weekend celebrating Arthur Ransome’s beloved Coot Club and The Big Six.Working in partnership with the Arthur Ransome Society (TARS), this special event brings the stories, characters and atmosphere of the Norfolk Broads back to life through boats, talks, displays and family activities. Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the books and television adaptations or simply looking for a unique family day out on the Broads, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.The weekend will officially open at 12 noon on Saturday with John Sergeant, President of TARS. Both John Sergeant and Arthur Ransome shared careers as foreign correspondents before Ransome returned to his passion for writing, creating the much-loved children’s adventures set on the Norfolk Broads.Throughout the weekend visitors can enjoy:⚓ Boat trips aboard our electric launch Marsh Harrier or steam-powered Falcon 🎬 Screenings of the BBC Coot Club television series filmed around the museum 🗣️ A special talk by Sophie Neville on the making of the TV adaptation ⛵ The chance to explore Teasel and Titmouse from the 1980s screen adaptations, kindly loaned from Hunter’s Yard 🧭 A treasure trail for the young at heart 🚤 The opportunity to step aboard a traditional wherry like the Sir Garnet 👒 Visitors are encouraged to come dressed in 1930s costume or as their favourite characterThe event is free with normal museum admission, although boat sailings carry an additional charge and should be booked online in advance.📍 Museum of the Broads, The Poor’s Staithe, Stalham, Norfolk, NR12 9DA 🅿️ Free parking available at Richardsons Boating HolidaysCome and relive the adventures of Coot Club and The Big Six in the landscape that inspired them!
