The Mill

Enjoying considerable media acclaim over the past few years, The Mill offers guests a cosy and relaxing break in a choice of just two, bespoke rooms.

Rooms are located in a converted cottage, on ground floor level with no stairs. They are separate from the main house of the owners, with both the Melford Room and the Garden Room having private off road parking and individual entrances, offering complete privacy and flexibility so guests can come and go as they please.

In August 2025, The Mail on Sunday featured the Mill as one of ‘Britain’s best B&B’s, in addition to being voted the East of England B&B winner in 2024.

The Mill has also ​​featur​ed​ twice in The Sunday Times as a special place to stay; and The Guardian newspaper who recommended The Mill in their ‘top 40 cosy B&B’s for the winter’ article. In 2021, The Mill appeared in The Sunday Observer in a feature called ‘Literary stays’ featuring Edmund Blunden, and has recently achieved a KAYAK travel award.

Enjoy a hearty home cooked breakfast taken in the conservatory of the main house before exploring the village and further afield. To compliment your stay, The Mill offers free use of sit on kayaks and bicycles, enabling guests to navigate the delightful river Stour in Sudbury or the numerous cycle routes in and around the village.
