Downham Market

Downham Market is a market town on the edge of the Fens in Norfolk, England, 11 miles south of King’s Lynn and 30 miles north of Cambridge. It is on the railway line between King’s Lynn and London Kings Cross.

The town, known as ‘Gingerbread Town’ because of the local carrstone used for buildings since medieval times, has a Victorian clock tower and medieval parish church, dedicated to St Edmund, who is also reflected in the town sign.

Downham Market is known as place Charles I hid after the Battle of Naseby.
