Dereham
Dereham, or East Dereham as it’s historically known, is a lovely market town in the exact middle of Norfolk, England, so is an excellent base from which to explore the county.
The town is on the A47, 15 miles west of Norwich and 25 miles east of King’s Lynn, and lies on the site of a monastery said to have been founded by Saint Withburga in the seventh century.
Dereham – literally ‘town of deer’ - is a terminus of the heritage steam Mid Norfolk Railway, a scenic countryside line to Wroxham in the Broads National Park. Nearby is Hirsty’s Family Fun Park.
