About The Crucible

1692: in the Puritan town of Salem Massachusetts, hysteria erupts when a group of girls accuses fellow villagers of witchcraft. As judges arrive and the trials begin, the town is consumed by fear, paranoia, and a distorted sense of justice. Miller’s classic play is a chilling allegory for the Red Scare and McCarthyism of the 1950s but it is a story that still resonates today.
