Nightfall: A Family Discovery Adventureat Mannington

As daylight fades and the estate slips into darkness, Mannington reveals a completely different side of itself. This gentle, guided night-time exploration invites families and curious minds of all ages to experience the estate after hours – when imaginations spark, senses sharpen, and the night comes alive.

Setting out together under the stars, we’ll wander slowly through the grounds, pausing to listen, look and wonder. You might hear bats flickering overhead, catch the hoot of a tawny owl calling through the trees, spot moths drawn to the light, or glimpse signal crayfish moving through the water. No two evenings are ever the same – that’s part of the magic.

Designed especially with families in mind, this is not a technical wildlife walk, but an atmospheric, story-filled exploration that encourages curiosity and shared discovery. Children are invited to ask questions, notice sounds and shapes, and enjoy the thrill of being outdoors well past bedtime. It’s an experience that feels a little daring, a little magical, and completely memorable.

Midway through the evening we’ll stop for a cosy pause, with hot chocolate and cake served as we stand quietly together and listen to the night around us – a moment to warm hands, refuel, and soak in the atmosphere.

The walk lasts around two hours and is suitable for children aged 6 and over. Please bear in mind it may be chilly underfoot and after dark, and all children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
